Everything Food’s mission is to make you a better-informed grocery shopper. We do that both by informing you and by helping you shop based on that information. Here’s how to do your grocery shopping on the Everything Food platform.

Create an Account
To create an account, follow the steps below:
- Click or tap the “Sign Up” button at the top right of the Everything Food home page
- Enter your first and last name
- Enter your email address
- Enter your zip code
- Enter a password
- Passwords must be at least 8 characters and contain an uppercase letter and a number
- Click or tap the large, green “Free Sign Up” button
After signing up, you will be prompted to take a brief quiz for us to better learn about your shopping habits.
To skip the quiz and exit straight to the maps page:
- Click or tap the gray “Exit Tour” button at the top right of the pop-up screen
To take the quiz:
- Click or tap Quality or Price to make your selection
- Click or tap the large, green “Next” button
- Click or tap the small green check box next to stores that you do not shop at. You will only be shown stores that are checked.
- Click or tap the large, green “Next” button
- Type up to three items you buy on a regular basis, one in each section
- Click or tap the large, green “Next” button
- When the quiz is complete, click or tap the large, green “See My Map” button to be taken to the maps page
Sign In to an Existing Account
To sign in to an already existing account:
- Click or tap the “Sign In” button at the top right of the Everything Food home page
- Enter the email address associated with your account in the “Email Address” field
- Enter the password for your Everything Food account in the “Password” field
- Click or tap the large, green “Sign In” button

Begin Shopping
In the middle of your dashboard screen, you’ll see a section labeled Shopping. To open up the shopping screen, do either of the following steps:
- Click or tap the “My Cart” button in the middle of the screen
- Click or tap the traditional shopping cart icon located at the top right of your screen
Search Products
Once the shopping screen opens up you will see the following:
- Map on the right
- My Cart on the left
To search for products, use the search field at the top of the screen:
- Click or tap the "search” field at the top of the screen and start typing
- Type specific branded or general products
- Example: “Bear Naked Almond Granola” or “Granola"
- Search bar will provide automatic suggestions
- Accept suggestion or continue typing
- Press enter on your keyboard to open up the search results
View Your Search Results
Your screen will display all products that match your search. Each item prominently displays its Everything Food Quality Score, so you have the option of simply choosing the highest-scoring item.
Add to Cart
- Click or tap “Add to Cart” for items you intend to purchase immediately
- You will receive this message when the item has been added and the button will change to say “In My Cart”
- Verify by looking at the cart icon on the upper right hand side of the screen
View Item Details
- Click or tap on the item that you wish to view
- Scroll through item details
- Add the item to your cart OR add the item to a list
Compare Multiple Items
- Click or tap the check box next to “Compare” in the top left corner of each item you wish to compare
- Click or tap “Compare” on the bottom right-hand corner
- View side by side details of each item
- Select which item you want to “Add to Cart” or “Add to List” by clicking or tapping the corresponding buttons
Add to List
- Click or tap “Add to List” to add items to a shopping list for later use
- Choose which list you want to add the item to
- This message will appear when the item has been successfully added
Search for Additional Items
Repeat the same steps to add more items to your cart, or add food items directly to your cart by using the search bar shown above. As you do, the “Total Items” and “Cart Score” at the top of your list will update in real-time. The Cart Score is simply the average EFQS of items in your cart.
Note: By using this search bar, items will be added directly to your cart without the ability to view and select a specific product. If you want to add a specific product by using this search bar, you will need to type in the product name.
Continue until you have selected all the items you wish to purchase. The map portion of your screen will also update in real-time as you shop, showing you how many items are in-stock at your local retailers. You’ll also see a cumulative price for your cart at each retailer.
Choosing and Comparing Retailers
Everything Food provides you with powerful tools to help you choose not only the best foods but the best place to buy them. Once you’ve filled your cart, you can:
- Choose the closest store
- Choose your favorite store
- Choose the store with the lowest overall price
- Choose a store that has stock of all, or most, of the items on your list
- For each retailer, view and select potential substitutions for items on your list
- Choose the store with the highest cumulative EFQS score for your cart of groceries
- Select multiple stores, and compare the exact items in each cart (for non-specified items, like rice, each store’s offering may vary; this is why the cumulative EFQS scores for your carts won’t be identical)
- Choose online delivery options, such as Instacart or Amazon Fresh, rather than a physical grocer
View Retailers on Your Shopping Map
Retailers will appear on the map based on your retailer preference. Each retailer bubble displays the following:
- Name of the retailer
- Total EFQS score of cart items for that retailer
- How many items from your cart are available
- Estimated total price of your cart for that retailer
You can zoom in, zoom out using pinch-to-zoom on a mobile device or the map’s +/- buttons in the top left corner of the map on a computer, or move the map to view other areas. To ensure that you are still searching as the map moves, click the “Search As Map Moves” icon in the top left corner of the map.
Choose Based on Price
To choose based on price, review the cumulative price of your cart of groceries at retailers in your area. Click or tap on the retailer with the lowest cumulative price for the items you wish to buy.
Choose Based on Everything Food Quality Score
To choose based on quality scores, look at the EFQS number for your cart at each retailer. Higher is better. Click or tap on the retailer with the highest cumulative EFQS for the items you wish to buy.
Choose Based on Physical Location.
To choose based on location, zoom in on the map to your desired area, using pinch-to-zoom on a mobile device or the map’s +/- buttons on a computer. Click or tap on the store closest to you, or the one that offers the most efficient travel route.
Choose Based on Store Preference
If you have an existing preference for a specific retailer in your area, based on their service, products, or pickup/delivery arrangements, just tap or click on your preferred store to make your purchase there.
Completing Your Transaction
Once you have selected your desired retailer using one of the methods listed above, you are ready to check out.
- Click or tap “Shop This Partner” on the left-hand side of the screen
- A pop up will appear and you will click or tap “Continue to Partner” to be transferred to the retailer’s website
- Once on the retailer’s website, you can complete your order
If the retailer does not have an online checkout option, do the following:
- Click or tap “Shop In Store” to access your cart as a shopping list
- A pop up will appear with your cart as a list. Click or tap “Share” if you want to share your cart
- Select the method for sharing your cart:
- Copy or view the link
- Send as an email
- Sent as a text message
Choose an Online Retailer
In the top right corner of your shopping screen, you’ll see a box labeled “Online Grocery Options,” which will have clickable links to delivery services available in your area, such as Instacart or Amazon Fresh.
- Click or tap “Shop This Partner” for the online retailer you want to shop
- Once you’ve picked a retailer click “Continue to Partner”
- Everything Food will take you to your chosen retailers’ sign-in page. If you do not already have an online account set up with that retailer, you’ll need to do that now. Otherwise, sign in using your usual username and password. When you do, you’ll find that the chosen items from your Everything Food cart have transferred automatically to your cart at that retailer. Complete your retailer’s online checkout process, choosing pickup or delivery and then your preferred payment method.
Comparing Carts and Substituting Items
If you’re not prepared to just accept your cart as-is at your local retailers, you can take more control of your shopping by comparing carts between retailers and making substitutions within a cart.
Choose Stores to Compare Carts
- Choose the stores you wish to compare by clicking or tapping the “Compare” checkbox in the top left corner of each store’s flag on the map. The stores will appear in a banner at the bottom of your screen.
- Click or tap “Compare” in the bottom right corner of the map
Compare the Items in Your Carts
Compare the items in each cart to see how equivalent they actually are. The search algorithm does its best to find comparable items at each store, but differences between retailers sometimes make that difficult. Items may vary between stores in size, brand, quality, packaging or EFQS.
View and Swap Alternative Items From a Retailer
To find a better alternative to any of the products in a given grocer’s cart, you can swap it out for a different available item.
- Click or tap “Swap” next to the item you want to change
- Select the alternative option from your list of choices by selecting “Swap Item”
- You may be offered multiple sets of suggestions, separated into “Best matches” and “Suggested alternatives”
- You can also choose to sort the available options by price or quality
- Your cart for that specific retailer will now be updated with your chosen product. The cumulative price and EFQS for that retailer will also change to reflect your substitution.
Repeat the item-swap process for any other items in your cart, until you’re satisfied that you have an “apples to apples” comparison across all of your chosen retailers.
Choose a Retailer
Once you have chosen a retailer, you can make your selection. If the retailer offer’s online checkout, do the following:
- Click or tap “Shop This Partner”
- Click or tap “Continue to Partner” to be transferred to the retailer’s website
- Once on the retailer’s website, you can complete your order
If the retailer does not have an online checkout option, do the following:
- Click or tap “Shop In Store” to access your cart as a shopping list
- A pop up will appear with your cart as a list. Click or tap “Share” if you want to share your cart
- Select the method for sharing your cart:
- Copy or view the link
- Send as an email
- Sent as a text message
